Tactor

Tactor image

Dancer Design tactors are miniature electromagnetic solenoid-type stimulators. They are designed to be attached to the skin using adhesive rings, but may also be incorporated into objects or clothing. They will find use in reaction-time experiments and EEG studies, virtual reality, aids to the blind and situational awareness.
The tactor can deliver a strong tactile stimulus at frequencies ranging from zero (static indentation or "tapping") up to 300 Hz. The vibration amplitude varies linearly with drive voltage to a good approximation - essentially the tactor behaves like a "touch loudspeaker", which means that it can create stimuli of different strength and quality.

The tactors can be driven by any small audio amplifier or by our 4-channel Tactamp.

There are some videos of tactors in action on the Videos page
